Are you an experienced Technical Superintendent or maritime engineer with a passion for inland shipping, vessel management, and technical operations? Do you speak German fluently and enjoy working closely with crews and shipyards?
This is your opportunity to take a key role in managing a modern inland fleet in the Antwerp region.
Your Role as Technical Superintendent
As a Technical Superintendent Inland Shipping, you are responsible for the technical performance, maintenance, and reliability of the fleet. You act as the crucial link between crew, suppliers, and management.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor the technical condition and operational performance of vessels
- Plan and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and inspections
- Visit vessels regularly (2–3 times per week)
- Provide technical support to crews and build strong working relationships
- Handle technical incidents and breakdowns (on-call rotation)
- Manage and execute technical projects, refits, and upgrades
- Develop and follow up on preventive maintenance plans (PMS)
- Maintain contact with shipyards, suppliers, and classification societies
- Manage the technical budget and advise on long-term investments
Profil
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Technology, Electromechanics, or Engineering
- Proven experience as a Technical Superintendent / Vessel Manager (preferably inland shipping)
- Fluent in German and English (mandatory requirement)
- Knowledge of ship engines, propulsion systems, and electrical installations
- Experience with PMS systems and technical documentation
- Familiar with classification rules and maritime regulations
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mentality
- Excellent communicator, able to connect with technical teams and crew
- Flexible and willing to travel frequently
